PHOTOELECTRIC EFFECT

The peculiarity by which electrons are transmitted from a metal surface, when adequately high frequency electromagnetic radiations are permitted to incident on it.

MAIN PARTS:

Vacuum tube transparent to ultraviolet light.

PHOTONS:

Light beam is a discrete energy packets.

PHOTOELECTRIC EFFECT:- EXPLANATION

#   Photoelectric effect is the consequence of connection of two particles. One is the photon of incident radiation and the other one is the electron of the photosensitive metal.

#   Every photon launches just a single electron. So the quantity of shot out photoelectrons increases with expansion In the intensity of incident radiation.

#   Positive external voltage is applied to direct the photoemitted electrons on to the collector. Negative voltage is applied to the collector in order to prevent any of the electrons arriving at the collector.

#   An expansion in the intensity of incident light will just expand the quantity (number) of electrons.
