PHOTOELECTRIC WORK FUNCTION & KINETIC ENERGY OF PHOTOELECTRONS

TABLE OF CONTENTS:

PHOTOELECTRIC EFFECT:

The peculiarity by which electrons are emitted from certain metal surface, when sufficiently high frequency electromagnetic radiations are allowed to incident on it.

THRESHOLD FREQUENCY:

The maximum wavelength of incident radiation above which photoelectric emission does not occur.

NUMERICAL:

In an experiment of photoelectric emission, the wavelength of incident light  was found to be 1.98X10-7 m and the stopping potential is 2.5 volt.Find the work function  threshold frequency and the maximum kinetic energy of the photoelectrons.
